Warriors played a much improved Shelfield from last season. Warriors started the game brightly with Kieran Emms and Katie Brookes determined defending and Anthony Tonks battling display in midfield keeping the Shelfield attacks at bay. Kane Jones was being marked tightly by two Shelfield defenders but managed to wriggle free, but being 1on1 with the keeper scuffed his shot. Midway through the second half Matthew Ricketts tried to chip the keeper from the edge of the box but his effort hit the bar and Kane Jones headed rebound was straight at the keeper.
Shelfield made changes and came out brightly in the second half and played a strong passing game. Keeper James Ponder was at his best again making some fine saves to keep the score level. With 8 minutes to go Shelfield scored the winner with a looped shot leaving the Warriors deflated.
