The Dragons were hoping for improved fortunes following a goalless start to 2012, when they travelled to Colron Boys. 

It was a very cold morning and after discussions with the managers, it was agreed that the pitch was playable however, the hard surface meant that the players needed to try to meet the ball on the full rather than let it bounce.

The game opened brightly with Colron kicking down the slight slope and many chances were created at both ends.  Colron took the lead at the midpoint of the first half when they broke, passed the ball round the Dragons’ defence and then past Matty.

The game continued to be stretched and as the Dragons pushed for the equaliser, Matty had to be on his game to keep out an effort that would have doubled the Colron lead.

The second half opened again with both sides playing entertaining football.  However, a quick fire double from Alex changed the complexion of the game.  Charlie was involved in creating both goals, firstly his ball into the box was turned goal wards by Alex and when it was saved by the ‘keeper, he slotted the rebound.

Then 2 minutes later, Alfie played a short corner to Charlie, who broke through a tackle and then fed Alex to complete a remarkable turnaround.

However, whilst the Dragons tried to continue the momentum and add to their lead, Colron continued to be a threat and important tackles from Will, Nathan Jones, Sam and JT ensured that they couldn’t find the equaliser.

A great game played by 2 excellent teams on a hard bumpy pitch.  A fantastic advert for mini soccer.
